Foxes set for pre-season tour

Leicestershire CCC players and coaches are looking forward to a five-day pre-season training camp in Desert Springs tomorrow.
The purpose of the trip to is to give players some warm weather training in the form of vital practice in the middle, as well as team building.
Several players are still abroad or just returning from their travels this winter, and with all of those factors in mind, a 14-man squad is travelling to Spain along with the coaching staff.
Bowlers will be able to have their first outdoor bowl of the season and get their bodies reacclimatised to bowling on grass.
For the batsmen, grass wickets provide a more realistic example of what they can expect in April when the season starts, rather than the artificial surface of netting indoors.
Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “Desert Springs is an amazing facility and the boys are absolutely raring to go. It will be a great trip for us all before we look to play matches back in the UK.”
Captain Michael Carberry said: “I’m really looking forward to getting to Desert Springs with the guys, we can have good high intensity training sessions.
“It will also be nice to spend some time in the evenings as a group with new players and coaches getting to know each other, which will be great for team spirit.”
It has been a great winter for the playing squad. Several players reported back at the start of November and have worked hard throughout, with others gaining vital time playing fixtures and training abroad.
The camp will also allow the new-look coaching team to continue to get to know the players ahead of the new season. Upon the squad’s return from Desert Springs there will be just 22 days until our first home fixture against Loughborough MCCU.
Pre-season tour squad: Carberry, Aadil, Dexter, Griffiths, Hill, Horton, Javid, Jones, Klein, Parkinson, Raine, Sayer, Taylor, Wells.
