Leicestershire Foxes reached a number of landmarks during the record-breaking Vitality Blast victory at Northamptonshire Steelbacks last night.
By overhauling 218, the Foxes recorded their highest ever T20 chase, beating the target of 204 against Kent in the quarter-final at 2011.
The Foxes score of 219 for 6 off 19.4 overs was the second highest score in Leicestershire’s T20 history, just short of the 221 for 3 posted off 20 completed overs at Headingley in 2004.
Leicestershire CCC also recorded the largest T20 total posted in Vitality Blast history at Wantage Road, with a staggering 121 runs scored from the final 7.4 overs of the innings.
Colin Ackermann’s calm, clinical unbeaten 66 saw him go past the 1,000-run mark in all competitions.
The T20 captain has scored 1,041 runs in 21 innings at an average of 61.24, posting six half-centuries as well as mammoth hundreds in the Specsavers County Championship, 186 and 196 not out.
Ackermann said: “It was an absolute thriller, we showed great character and composure to get over the line.
“I identified my scoring areas, tried to eliminate dot balls and tried to take the game as deep as possible.
“The fielders were shouting and you pick up on those things and that changed the momentum. There was no pressure on the guys coming out in the second innings, we just went out and enjoyed ourselves.”
