Foxes support Move it Boom

by Sam Chambers

Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket are delighted to again be supporting Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust's Move It Boom initiative.

The Trust is inviting all primary school children, parents, families and carers to take part in an active parks adventure.

The challenge is to visit local parks across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and complete as many of the activity challenges on www.healthforkids.co.uk.

Move It Boom will be at tomorrow night’s NatWest T20 Blast game against Lancashire Lightning, offering fruit snacks and nutritional advice in our Foxes Den area – so keep an eye out for them!

Also as part of our support for Move It Boom, coaches from Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket recently visited Parks Primary School, in New Parks, Leicester, to give pupils the chance to take part in a taster session.

Children took part in fielding and batting exercises led by Cricket Development Coach Steve Franklin, enjoying a fun-filled introduction to the game of cricket.

Martyn Dobson, Head of Community Development, said: “It's great to work in partnership with the NHS and the professional football and basketball clubs of Leicester around the Move it Boom scheme.

“Encouraging physical activity in youngsters is at the heart of our community engagement programme and something that we are proud to be associated with.

“I would encourage youngsters and schools across the county to get involved in Move it Boom, get active and enjoy what is a great initiative.”

Children can log the activities they undertake and, in the process, put their school in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

The three schools with the most activities logged will win some fantastic prizes from ourselves, Loughborough University, Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Riders Basketball Club, so be sure to get logging those activities and claim some prizes for you and your friends!

So far there has been over 40,000 children entries logged for Move It Boom, with Caldecote and Abbey Primary Schools leading the way, and the winning school will be announced on Wednesday, October 26.
