Leicestershire CCC is set to become the maiden first-class county to live stream one of its fixtures to TikTok.
The Club is to broadcast live streamed footage and commentary to our account (@leicsccc) on the social media giant for tomorrow’s (Fri, 12 Aug) Royal London Cup fixture against Somerset at Uptonsteel County Ground.
Streaming will begin at 10:50am, with three cameras capturing unique perspectives of the match action, which will be accompanied by BBC commentary.
The coverage forms part of our commitment to evolving our digital offering, bringing existing supporters, as well as new audiences, closer to the game we love.
The decision follows the release of our official app for the 2022 season, as well as the enhancement of Foxes TV’s live stream production on YouTube, which has subsequently soared to become the most subscribed to amongst the 18 first-class counties.
TikTok boasts over one billion active monthly users, standing as the fastest growing social media app, with a unique algorithm for showcasing content to its users.
Jack Gabriel, Communications and Digital Marketing Executive at LCCC, said: “We have recognised the rise in TikTok’s popularity for our short-form content and live streaming is the next exciting avenue for us to explore.
“The commitment to developing our digital coverage is aimed at growing the game, and we believe TikTok is the perfect platform to inspire a new audience of young cricket fans.â€
