Since the last update, the Leicestershire CCC players plying their trade abroad have been both busy and successful.
Foxes seamer Zak Chappell is currently in Desert Springs, Spain, with the ECB Pace Programme while Callum Parkinson has been in various parts of Australia.
The slow left arm spinner was recently in Perth, bowling at the England Lions and Young Lions, and has also been in Brisbane.
Mark Cosgrove has been scoring runs for Northern Districts in Adelaide. He has posted two of his side’s highest four scores: 134 against Adelaide University and 72 versus Port Adelaide.
Ned Eckersley has been in the runs for Western Suburbs; he hit an unbeaten 109 against Sydney before posting 75 against Penrith in the Sydney Twenty20 competition. Eckersley backed up 75 with 73 in the same tournament against Central Coast.
Young wicket-keeper/batsman Harry Swindells hit his first century for Balwyn CC in his side’s victory against Endeavour Hills.
Cameron Delport is playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing Dhaka Dynamites. The left-hander’s top score so far is 64, coming in his side’s victory over Khulna Titans.
Batsman Colin Ackermann’s season has now moved onto T20 cricket. His Warriors side qualified for the semi-finals where they will play Titans. Ackermann has had a solid tournament, top-scoring with 74.
All-rounder Ben Raine has started his season in New Zealand in fine form. His team Riccarton have won their first four games of the season.
Raine was in sensational form at the weekend, hitting 50 and taking 5 wickets. Raine’s conceded just 12 runs in his 10 overs while picking up his 5-for. He was also capped by Riccarton in his third season with the club.
Staying in New Zealand, Tom Wells has also been in good form for Auckland University. Last weekend, he took two wickets and was 65 not out at stumps when his side went to the crease. His team require a further 79 runs to win next weekend. As well as being a crucial all-rounder, Wells is captaining Auckland University.
Players who have not gone overseas have returned after a six week break for pre season training, spending time in the Leicestershire gym as well as using facilities at Leicester City Football Club and De Montfort University to mix up the players training.
Having completed their initial assessments, the players are now undertaking some light skills work with their specialist coach.
