Leicestershire CCC is pleased to confirm the signing of batsman Greg Smith from Nottinghamshire on a one-month loan deal.
Smith played at Grace Road between 2008 and 2014 before making the move to Trent Bridge and is available for tomorrow’s LV=CC match against Kent.
The 26-year old scored 3,309 first-class runs in his first spell at Leicestershire at an average of 27.12, including a highest score of 158 not out against Gloucestershire in 2010.
The batsman also made 835 List A runs for Leicestershire at 24.55, including a best of 135 not out against Somerset, and 784 T20 runs at 29.03 with a highest of 102 against Nottinghamshire last summer.
Smith’s arrival will help the club during a busy period in which Niall O’Brien, Kevin O’Brien and Rob Taylor will be on T20 international duty with Ireland and Scotland respectively.
Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Andrew McDonald said: “We are extremely grateful to Mick Newell for allowing us to complete the signing. Greg is a player who we know well and he will slot straight back in at Grace Road, which makes him the ideal person to join us.”
Smith has played nine games for Nottinghamshire this season, including three in the LV=County Championship and six in the NatWest T20 Blast. The batsman remains eligible for Notts Outlaws in the shortest form of the game.
