Hill brothers lead Lutterworth to win

Leicestershire batsman Lewis Hill made a third league century in his fifth innings of the season as Lutterworth and Sileby kept the pressure on Everards Premier Division leaders Kibworth with 30-point wins.

Hill made a fine 101 and captain Ollie Pickering fell one short of his century as Lutterworth posted 287-6 at Leicester Road.

Lewis’s brother Alec then claimed 5-40, including two wickets in consecutive balls in the final over, as Syston were bowled out for 234.

Sileby put 268-6 on the board against Leicester Ivanhoe thanks in large to Luke Gale’s 79. Although Leicestershire Academy player Sam Evans made a fine 82 as Ivanhoe started well, his side were dismissed for 169.

That meant the teams are now on 259 points, 17 behind Kibworth, who powered to a seven-wicket win at home to Kegworth.

Town were in all kinds of trouble on 108-8 but got up to 218-8 courtesy of late order unbeaten half-centuries from Gareth Isaac and Alex Fletcher.

Pite van Biljoen (85), Darren Shaw (53*) and Charlie Page-Morris (45*), who earlier took three wickets along with Matt Bashford, were in the runs for Kibworth.

There was a third successive 30-point haul for a Loughborough Town side that are fifth having peaked at a good time.

Anish Patel batted through an innings of 247-8 with an unbeaten 106 and his partnership for the eighth wicket with Martin Gidley, who struck 40 off 29 balls, was important.

Rothley Park were 176-3 in the 40th over but Rob McKinley and Prakash Modha each claimed four wickets as the visitors lost their last seven wickets for 13 runs.

Zak Chappell played for Market Harborough before his Leicestershire debut on Sunday but a fine unbroken stand of 103 between Ben Coddington (73*) and Tim Payne (56*) led Hinckley Town/CCA to a six-wicket win.
