Hill caps off record season at 2021 Player Awards Evening

Leicestershire CCC batsman Lewis Hill rounded off a superb individual year with three awards at the 2021 Player Awards Evening on Saturday (September 25).
Overseas wicketkeeper batsman, Josh Inglis, also won a hat-trick of awards after an impressive T20 season with the Running Foxes.
Hill, a product of the Leicestershire Academy, won One Day Player of the year in a season in which he led the Running Foxes into the Royal London Cup as captain “ in Colin Ackermann’s and Callum Parkinson’s absences.
The Foxes man led the run scoring charts in one day cricket with a total of 322 runs at an average of 46 and a highscore of 108, with two centuries recorded.
An emotional Hill also received Fan’s Player of the Year and brought the night to a close with the final award of the evening, Player’s Player of the Year, after unanimously winning each respective vote.
Chris Wright capped off an incredible 18th season in professional cricket “ his third for Leicestershire “ with two big awards.
The 36-year old won the first trophy of the evening “ the County Championship Player of the Year “ for his tireless work opening the bowling attack at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Wright took 49 first-class wickets in a 2021 season that saw his 500th first-class claimed in the draw against Derbyshire CCC, as well as his 100th first-class wicket for Leicestershire CCC.
Wright’s season was then topped off after earning the Cricketer of the Year Award, voted for by the Head Coach Paul Nixon and his coaching staff.
Other notable winners of the evening were Callum Parkinson, who claimed the Frank S Smith Cup for Outstanding Bowling Performance for his second career first-class 10 wicket haul in the home victory against Gloucestershire CCC, with figures of 10 for 108.
Following a standout season, particularly in first-class cricket, Harry Swindells picked up the Young Player of the Season Award after claiming the wicket-keeper spot for himself.
With a new career best of 171 in the longest format, recorded against Somerset CCC, as well as passing 1,000 first-class runs for Leicestershire, the 22-year old finished second in the County Championship run scoring charts for the Running Foxes with 693 to his name at an average of 43.31.
Swindells also took 27 catches from behind the stumps, as well as one stumping.
Also, Ed Barnes secured the Roger Goadby Award for Outstanding Moment in the Field for his incredible catch of James Weighell in the draw against Glamorgan in the Royal London Cup.
The 2021 season also saw two further Foxes added to the history books as Lewis Hill and Chris Wright were awarded their Gold Foxes, the first recipients of this honour since Club Captain, Colin Ackermann in 2019.
Lastly, departing players Harry Dearden and Dieter Klein were honoured and recognised for their contributions to the Club for the past six seasons by LCCC Vice-Captain, Callum Parkinson.
