Scorecard Game 2

Leicestershire Second XI played two T20 games against Derbyshire at Grace Road on Friday. Honours finished even as both sides won one game each. Both matches were played out under dank and gloomy skies.

In Game 1, Leicestershire were skippered by Dan Redfern, who won the toss and elected to field. Derbyshire posted 158-4 in their 20 overs. The main contributions came from First XI captain Wayne Madsen (56 from 39 balls, 6x4) and Alex Hughes (49 not out, 27 balls, 3x4, 2x6). County were never in the hunt in their reply, finishing their 20 overs on 100-9 as Derbyshire won by 58 runs.

County won comfortably in game two. James Sykes skippered the side, won the toss, and asked Derbyshire to bat. The County bowlers put in a good performance restricting Derbyshire to 111-7 from their 20 overs.

The pick of the attack was Sykes, who returned excellent figures of 3-13 from his four overs. With the threat of rain in the air County made light work of chasing down the total.

Tom Wells, opening the batting, made a solid 44 (6x4,1x6), and was dismissed when the scores were level. His opening partner Matt Cross helped add 55 for the first wicket before departing for 21. Lewis Hill made a bright and lively unbeaten 39, adding 56 with Wells for the second wicket.
