Jones rejoins on loan

Leicestershire CCC is pleased to announce the signing of Warwickshire seamer Richard Jones on an initial one-month loan deal.

Jones, who previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Fischer County Ground in 2014, will be available for red ball cricket starting with the Specsavers County Championship game against Gloucestershire on Monday.

The 29-year-old made an instant impact at Leicestershire in his first loan period, taking 5-34 on his NatWest T20 Blast debut with a quick spell of bowling at Lancashire Lightning. He also took two Specsavers County Championship wickets for the Foxes against his former county Worcestershire.

Jones has claimed 150 career wickets in 50 first-class appearances at an average of 30.68 including a best return of 7-115. He will initially be available for both forthcoming Specsavers County Championship matches against Gloucestershire and the fixture versus Worcestershire.

Leicestershire CCC Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald said: “Richard is looking to get some cricket and fits the bill for us with some injuries to our seam bowlers in the opening weeks of the season. We needed to add some cover to our seam department so it’s a good move for all parties.

“Richard has previously spent some time at the club, so he’s coming into an environment that he’s comfortable in, and we’d like to thank Dougie Brown and Warwickshire for allowing the move to happen.”
