Jones signs permanent LCCC deal

Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that seamer Richard Jones has signed a permanent deal at the Fischer County Ground.

Jones will remain on loan at the club until the end of the season and has signed to stay until at least the end of the 2018 campaign.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed two successful loan spells at the club, the first of which saw him claim 5-34 on his NatWest T20 Blast debut with a great spell of bowling at Lancashire Lightning in 2014.

Since returning to the FCG, Jones has again impressed with his ability to shape the ball at good pace, including two important first innings wickets in the fine win at Gloucestershire.

Jones has claimed 153 career wickets in 53 first-class appearances at an average of 31.74 including a best return of 7-115.

The seamer is not available for Leicestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup having already played for Warwickshire, but can play in the final NatWest T20 Blast fixture at Notts Outlaws tomorrow night and the final six Specsavers County Championship matches of the season.

Leicestershire CCC Elite Performance Director Andrew McDonald said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve managed to secure Richard on a two-year deal, he’s made an impact here both on and off the field and we look forward to having him with us permanently.

“Richard has demonstrated his skill sets by swinging the ball both ways at good pace. He has enjoyed playing regular cricket, and we’re grateful to Warwickshire for allowing us to take Richard on loan in the first instance.”

Warwickshire CCC Director of Cricket Dougie Brown said: “Richard has been a great professional during his time at Edgbaston and is very highly thought of by all within the playing and coaching squad. We thank him for his contribution to the team and wish him the very best for his future with Leicestershire CCC.”
