Leicestershire CCC is excited to announce the signing of Josh Hull on a two-year rookie contract ahead of the 2023 campaign.
The 18-year-old becomes the latest prospect to integrate into the senior setup after graduating from the club’s proud Academy system.
Hull impressed during the 2022 season, taking 28 wickets at an average of 26 for the Academy, including 11 wickets at 16 in the Under 18’s route to the final of the T20 competition.
Such form earned the 6ft 7†seamer three appearances in the Second XI during the second half of the campaign, while he tasted first-class cricket when forming part of the squad for the First Team’s final fixture of the season at Derbyshire.
A product of Stamford School, Hull has also earned international recognition, featuring for England during the Young Lions Invitational XI’s three-day match against Sri Lanka U19s in August.
The tall left-armer will now have the opportunity to further his development by working closely with the First XI coaching staff over the winter months, including Lead Bowling Coach, Alfonso Thomas.
Speaking about signing, Hull said: “It’s a dream come true to sign a two-year contract with Leicestershire and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.
“I relished the opportunities to develop in the Academy and Second XI this season, and being invited to join the First Team squad in Derbyshire was an amazing experience.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for me to progress as a player by working alongside the coaches and highly-experienced players.â€
Head of Talent Pathway, Jigar Naik, said: “Josh has good pace and possesses the ability to swing the ball back in, which offers crucial variation to our pace attack.
“His constant hunger to succeed and improve shone through, which will stand him in good stead as he transitions into senior cricket.
“Josh’s development over the past year has been very impressive and if he continues that trajectory, it will be very exciting to see what he can achieve.
