Ben Raine again performed well but Kent completed an eight-wicket victory in the LV=CC match at Grace Road
Leicestershire resumed on 110-9, 59 ahead, with Raine and Charlie Shreck at the crease. Raine showed intent by striking a couple of boundaries.
However, the innings came to an end with the score on 123 when Shreck (1) was bowled by a good delivery from Matt Coles (17.2-3-43-4), who took ten wickets in the match.
Raine was left unbeaten on 41 from 76 balls in a battling innings that contained seven boundaries.
It meant that Kent required 73 to win and Joe Denly (37 not out) decided to be aggressive, using his feet to strike a four down the ground in the second ver.
Daniel Bell-Drummond (5) tried to repeat the feat but he edged Raine (7.2-0-34-2) to Angus Robson, who took a smart catch at first slip.
Denly struck a couple of flowing off-drives to take the target below 50 and a flick off the pads also raced to the fence.
Leicestershire kept going and Raine picked up his 44th first-class wicket of the summer as Rob Key (4) was held by Ned Eckersley as he looked to hit over mid-on.
Captain Sam Northeast (28 not out) swivelled and glanced a brace of fours in the 11th over and Kent were 50-2 when rain had the players scampering for cover.
Lunch was taken at 12.35pm and Northeast struck three fours after the interval before Denly completed the victory by driving a boundary through mid-on.
Leicestershire’s next LV=CC game comes at the picturesque venue of Cheltenham when the team take on Gloucestershire a week tomorrow.
