Kent stars in Everards thriller

Academy batsman Alex Kent made a brilliant 113 but there was absolutely nothing to separate Leicester Ivanhoe and Rothley Park in the Leicestershire and Rutland Premier League, sponsored by Everards.

The in-form Ali Azmat top-scored with 64 as the visitors made 253-9 at Hinckley Road, Richard Durose taking 4-51 to keep them in check.

Kent shared 85 and 62 for the second wicket and fourth wicket with fellow Academy players Sam Evans (41) and Harry Swindells (33) as Ivanhoe got themselves in a position to win with some solid batting.

However, Kent was run out off the last ball as they looked for the winning single so the scores finished level on 253-6. The home side took 16 points while Rothley claimed 15 points.

Leicestershire Young Cricketer Yuvraj Odedra continued his fine season as Barrow Town landed a four-wicket win that took them back above Lutterworth.

The runs were shared around as Lutterworth posted 217-7 but Odedra (77) shared an 89-run opening partnership with Ramesh Kara and 81 for the second wicket with Bhargav Modha as Barrow won with 26 balls to spare.  Adam Burton finished with fine figures of 4-43 for Lutterworth, including the wickets of Odedra and Modha.

Kibworth captain Matt Craven hit a superb 123 not out off just 83 balls as leaders Kibworth overhauled Market Harborough’s 177-9 for the loss of one wicket in 26 overs.

Loughborough Town completed a comfortable six-wicket win after bowling out Thorpe Arnold for 133. Rob McKinley followed up his five-for last week by claiming 3-28 off his allocation and Loughborough cruised to victory in 21 overs.

Syston Town bowled out Kegworth for 144 as Zahir Taher and Umar Razzaq took three wickets apiece. Leicestershire Academy player George Corbett picked up 1-28 off seven overs.

Syston then chased down the runs in 29 overs for the loss of five wickets, former Leicestershire Academy player Charles Wootton leading the way with 67 at the top of the order.

Dave Torr made a sparkling 102 for Sileby Town as they drew against Hinckley Town/CCA. Sileby posted 240-7 and Hinckley closed on 203-8, Carl Crowe top-scoring with 71. Academy bowler Joe Clarke picked up 2-36 off ten overs for Sileby.
