Kibworth make it eight in a row

Dieter Klein was involved in an important game in the Lancashire League on Saturday but his Lowerhouse side lost to leaders Ramsbottom.

Klein scored 26 and took 2-37 for third-placed Lowerhouse but Ramsbottom ultimately emerged with a 6-wicket win.

Kibworth claimed an eighth successive Everards Premier League victory despite the best efforts of Leicestershire’s James Sykes.

Sykes claimed 3-46 after scoring 27 but Kibworth edged home by a 2-wicket margin with an over to spare at Lutterworth.

The leaders were stuttering somewhat at 126-6 chasing 175 to win but number four batsman Darren Shaw dropped anchor with a vital 27 not out from 85 balls after Pite van Biljoen had earlier struck a half-century.

Loughborough Town remain in second place after an emphatic win against Leicester Ivanhoe.

Academy trio Sam Evans (57), Jack Gilford (29) and Harry Swindells (23) all contributed but Ivanhoe were dismissed for 184 as Kyle Saddington took 6-27 and Loughborough cruised home by nine wickets.

Opener Tom Wells scored 42 off just 23 balls while Charlie Lowen hit an equally quickfire 80 not out off 58 deliveries. Anish Patel was a steadying influence at the other end, posting a measured unbeaten half-century between the fireworks.

Sileby Town were frustrated in their victory bid against Hinckley Town/CCA. Leicestershire all-rounder Jigar Naik (68) and former Academy player Liam Kinch (51) helped Sileby to post 228-9 and Hinckley hung on at 162-9 despite Chris Trevis snaring 5-21.

Syston Town and Barkby United produced an absolute run-fest. Former Academy player Ramandeep Ghuman struck a century to guide Syston to 301-4 while Matthew Boyce again showed his class with an unbeaten 98 to ensure Barkby claimed a losing draw.

Barrow Town were also in the runs and landed an emphatic victory against bottom side Earl Shilton. Academy batsman Jack Nightingale struck 79 not out and Sardeep Salgotra (106) was again in fine form as Barrow scored 313-4 before Earl Shilton were bowled out for 65.

Rothley Park and Market Harborough served up an absolute classic, the home side posting 266-9 before Harborough got close with 257-8.

Hamzah Khan led the way with a century for Rothley and Harborough were 100-5 at one point. They recovered to 173-6 with 8.3 overs remaining but Zain Mir (60) and Patrick Sadd (49) nearly got them home.
