LCCC Donate over £2,000 to Local Charity Alex's Wish

As an extension of the successful Fireworks Evening that took place at the Uptonsteel County Ground on Friday, November 5, 2021, Leicestershire County Cricket Club are proud to announce that the Club raised over £2,000 for local charity, Alex’s Wish.

Alex’s Wish was one of the Club’s two charity partners for the Leicestershire CCC Foundation and was previously named as the official charity partner for the Club’s inaugural Fireworks Evening back in 2019.

The partnership has grown from strength to strength since, culminating in the two organisations linking up once again for this year’s Fireworks Evening, extending Alex’s Wish’s relationship with the event.

The Running Foxes announced that 75p from every ticket sale for the event was to go to helping Alex’s Wish eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ahead of the spectacular evening, as well as giving the charity a prime spot amongst the accompanying fairground throughout the course of the evening.

Three representatives from Alex’s Wish; Emma Hallam and her daughter Isla, Zoe Edwards and Heidi Eastell attended the event and sold their homemade mulled wine, as well as flashing lights for the fireworks show throughout the evening.

Overall, the Club and charity raised £2,252 to donate to the cause, a sum that the Club are extremely pleased to have had a hand in raising.

Head of Marketing and Consumer Sales, Jack Bradley commented: “We are pleased to be able to make a significant donation to this year’s Fireworks Event Charity Partner Alex’s Wish following the sold-out display.

“We hope that the funds will make a difference to help with the incredible work that is being done by the charity to help eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

Emma Hallam, Alex’s Wish founder and mum to Alex added: “What a fabulous evening, the fireworks and light lasers were amazing and so much money was raised for Alex’s Wish.

“We were incredibly grateful for this wonderful opportunity to raise money and awareness of our cause. We would like to thank everyone involved in organising the event and to those who bought mulled wine and light lasers from us.

“The money raised will support important projects to help bring effective treatments to those living with Duchenne.”

Leicestershire CCC are pleased to have been working with Alex’s Wish for the past few years as one of the Club’s official charity partners and hope to be able to continue the collaboration into the future.
