LCCC to Help Hit Climate Change for Six

Leicestershire County Cricket Club has teamed up with its sustainable travel partner Sportsrooms to help hit climate change for six this summer during the team’s Vitality Blast campaign.

For every maximum hit by the Running Foxes during this season’s competition, Sportsrooms will plant a tree in a dedicated UK reforestation project operated by The Future Forest Company.

This initiative forms part of the Club’s greater sustainability goals, including the recent commitment to reduce the team’s travel carbon footprint and develop county cricket’s first carbon neutral team travel programme.

Chris Newsham, Director at Sportsrooms, said: “We are excited to be working with Leicestershire Cricket on this ground-breaking initiative.
“It is commonly known that reforestation is one of the best ways to fight climate changes and being able to put in place a tree planting programme within the UK is a great way to be involved in creating long-term solutions for the environment.
“The Vitality Blast is a huge celebration of cricket and using this platform to highlight the importance of sustainability is another huge step forward.’

Leicestershire CCC Commercial Manager, Tracey Branson, said: “We are excited to further develop our partnership with Sportsrooms with this fantastic initiative.

“LCCC is incredibly eager to support long-term protection plans for the environment, so we are looking forward to seeing the team smash as many sixes as possible.”
