We are pleased to confirm that from 1st August 2016, Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC) will merge with the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket Board (LRCB), its recreational and community arm.
This decision was confirmed at a Special General Meeting held at the Fischer County Ground yesterday evening (20th July).
The aim of merging LCCC with the LRCB is to improve participation in and delivery of community, recreational and professional cricket. It is also anticipated that the merger will create greater alignment and open up additional funding sources that will support the delivery of sustainable community programmes.
The merger will place LCCC at the forefront for the governance and development of the whole game in the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland from grassroots right up to the professional game.
As part of the new arrangements of the merger, all previous organisation members of the LRCB (local clubs, leagues, associations, organisations and agencies associated with cricket) will be admitted as members of LCCC under the category of Organisation Members. The club will also have the option of admitting additional local clubs, leagues, etc. to membership in future.
LCCC Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said “This will unite cricket across Leicestershire & Rutland, creating a clear and single pathway from the playground and the streets, through to the recreational and first-class game.
“We will not only remain at the forefront of developing and supporting the very best talent, but will also continue to use the vehicle of cricket to improve and impact lives across our diverse communities through our outreach programmes.”
