A fun-filled summer of events awaits with something for everyone!
Following the easing of lockdown restriction from the government on Monday, July 19, 2021, Leicestershire County Cricket Club are looking forward to a jam-packed summer including one-day cup cricket and a comprehensive list of events.
The Royal London One Day Cup begins tomorrow (Thursday, July 22) with the visit of Derbyshire Falcons, which provides a full days' worth of exciting and entertaining sporting action.
A huge outdoor cinema weekends begins on Friday, August 20 with the award winning romance-musical Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela kicking things off under the stars at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
The weekend continues with the screening of Toy Story on Saturday, August 21, at 2:00pm kicking off a double header of outdoor cinema screenings.
The perfect family day out continues with Mamma Mia! being screened later on in the evening of Saturday, with the film starting at 7:00pm, as romance once again descends on the idyllic setting of the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Finally, the ultimate outdoor cinema weekend in Leicestershire comes to an end on Sunday, August 22 as Tom Cruise sets out to become the best of the best at TOPGUN; the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program, all whilst falling for his instructor “ the perfect mix of action, drama and romance.
Not only is the Uptonsteel County Ground playing host to an incredible line-up of outdoor cinema events, as the return of An Evening of Queen is accompanied by An Evening of Tina in a West End double header.
An Evening of Tina comes to Leicestershire first, on Thursday, September 23 as Tsemaye Bob-Egbe leads the Stars of London’s West End as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, in a night which will feature Tina Turner’s biggest hits from her vast back catalogue.
An Evening of Queen then makes a return to Leicestershire’s premier outdoor venue on Friday, 23 September, as the Stars of London’s West End complete another huge weekend of outdoor events at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Sean Jarvis, Chief Executive at Leicestershire County Cricket Club said, “We’ve worked hard as a club to create an events calendar that is appealing to all members of the Leicestershire community.
“Like so many other sporting organisations, it has been a real test during the pandemic. We had always planned to hold events this summer, regardless of restrictions, and had been putting measures in place to ensure complete community safety and confidence.
“With the recent news on restrictions easing, we are raring to go and can’t wait to welcome people back.â€
