Leicestershire County Cricket Club have announced they will be working with The Royal British Legion in a unique partnership during the 2022 season.
In what is believed to be a first partnership of its kind in English cricket, the two organisations will be launching a series of initiatives in the New Year, designed to promote both organisations to new audiences, raising the profile of the cricket club to Royal British Legion members, whilst at the same time, raising awareness of the Royal British Legion’s work to cricket fans, both young and old.
Sean Jarvis, CEO at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, said: “A relationship with the Royal British Legion has been high on our priorities for some time, but of course the pandemic made things very difficult, so we are delighted to have begun discussions regarding a series of initiatives for 2022.
“Further details will be announced in the New Year, but we think this relationship will be warmly received by our supporters of all ages. As we pause at this time of year to reflect on the heroics of all those who have served, the work of the Royal British Legion is relentless 365 days a year and we thought we could add support to their wonderful work during the summer months.
“Once we receive further clarity regarding our fixtures, we will be able to plan in more detail, but the intention is to work together in some capacity across all three competitions next season.â€
Bill Brown, Chairman of the Royal British Legion for
Leicestershire and Rutland, added: “We are very excited to grow the partnership
between Leicestershire County Cricket Club and the County of Leicestershire and
Rutland Royal British Legion, to the benefit of all concerned.
“To have the support of one of our country’s most prestigious cricket teams is a huge boost to the RBL and we look forward to the opportunity of working in partnership for many years to come.â€
With the Club eagerly anticipating news on the fixtures for the 2022 season, Leicestershire CCC and the Royal British Legion will meet in due course to discuss plans surrounding the cricketing schedule.
