Leicestershire CCC have announced the captains for the 2017 season. Mark Cosgrove will continue in his role as club captain, leading Leicestershire CCC in first-class cricket, while Clint McKay has been named as the Foxes white ball captain.
Both players led the way in terms of performance in all three competitions in 2016. Cosgrove scored 1,767 runs, the highest tally for Leicestershire CCC across the Specsavers County Championship, Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast, and McKay was the top wicket-taker in all three formats with 71 wickets.
Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Pierre de Bruyn said: “Mark Cosgrove will continue to captain the side in first-class cricket. We have decided to go in a different direction with the white ball captaincy as we want to maximise Clint McKay’s vast experience and knowledge.
“Mark Pettini will be freed up from all that comes with the job and will continue to be a vital part of the squad. Mark embraces and understands the decision, and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for his contribution and effort as white ball captain last season.”
