Leicestershire CCC receives funding for community projects

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is extremely grateful to receive a £10,000 donation from The Sandhu Charitable Foundation.

Bim Sandhu, Chief Executive of The Santon Group and co-founder of the Foundation, generously donated the money to ensure that Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket can work on a number of vital community projects.

Bim said: “I am a huge cricket fan and I believe that the game of cricket can play a huge role in the lives of young people. I think that it is vital that young people become interested in sport - especially cricket with its strong values and ethos – as they are growing up.

“I know that Wasim and Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket are fully committed to helping young people across the city and county, and I am delighted that our donation will go towards their development.

“I think that cricket across Leicestershire and Rutland is definitely on the up and the more young people who take up the game and watch cricket at Grace Road, the better.”

Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “We are extremely grateful to The Sandhu Charitable Foundation for their kind donation. It will help a number of projects in the community that we are working on.

“Reaching out to the community is hugely important to us and we want to be known as a club who welcomes everybody to Grace Road. We want to get out into the community and attract more people to come to Grace Road.

“We have recently appointed Dips Patel as the manger of the Mike Turner Indoor Cricket Centre and relaunched coaching clinics for school holidays. Attracting more young people to participate and watch cricket are key objectives of Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket.”

The Sandhu Charitable Foundation was established as the long term focus for the philanthropic activities of Bim and Pardeep Sandhu and their family. The website is available HERE
