Marcus Harris twice turns down LCCC for 2022

Leicestershire County Cricket can confirm that despite offering Marcus Harris a twice improved contract following his impressive 2021 campaign in Leicestershire in both the red ball and List A competitions, the Australian top-order batsman will not be joining the Running Foxes for 2022.

Marcus was one of the Club's overseas priorities at the Uptonsteel County Ground, however, we understand that he has received and intends to accept a substantial offer from another County.

LCCC CEO, Sean Jarvis said: “Marcus [Harris] has been brilliant for us and has showed what he is capable of. He handled himself with great professionalism at all times, and whilst disappointed we understand his position and we wish him well on his next chapter.

He continued: “For Leicestershire, we have to work within our budget and sustain our business in the appropriate way. Our budgets are always going to be tightly controlled and we have to work within those whilst we try and build our business further in order to reinvest. That will take time and we need the continued and growing support of our community.

“For now, our recruitment team will continue to search and attract overseas players who are wanting to work with our exciting and developing squad.

“Last year our overseas players, including Marcus, really contributed, and we once again will be searching for those type of players.”

The recruitment team at the Uptonsteel County Ground are continuously working hard to be able to recruit exciting overseas players that will have the same impact as the ones for the 2021 campaign
