Leicestershire CCC is excited to announce the signing of seam bowler Matt Salisbury on a three-year contract.
The 29-year-old arrives following a four-year stay with Durham, in which he took 102 wickets for the county, including 90 in first-class cricket.
Salisbury, who previously represented Essex and Hampshire before his move up north, made an immediate impression at Durham, taking 44 wickets at 24.77 during the 2018 campaign, including career-best figures of six for 37 against Middlesex.
He finished with a bowling average under 30 for four consecutive red-ball summers at Durham, while he also helped take the county to the final of the 2021 Royal London Cup.
Overall, the right-arm seamer has taken 117 first-class wickets at 33.12, 17 wickets at 38.35 in List A cricket, and 10 wickets at 25.6 in the shortest format.
Discussing his arrival, Salisbury said: “I’m very excited to have been given the opportunity to join Leicestershire.
“As soon as I spoke with Claude (Henderson) and the coaching staff, I got a strong feeling about the club being the right place for me.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and starting work towards next season.â€
Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Matt to Leicestershire. He arrives with a good reputation and an excellent track record.
“He will bring an impressive skillset and high levels of determination to our squad, and we are looking forward to seeing him flourish in all three formats.â€
Salisbury becomes the Foxes’ fourth signing ahead of 2023, joining Michael Finan and Sol Budinger, who both made their debuts in the closing stages of the 2022 season, as well as Academy star Josh Hull, who signed his first professional deal earlier this week.
