Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that Head Coach Andrew McDonald has agreed a two-year extension to his contract at Grace Road.
McDonald, who rejoined the club last winter after a highly successful spell as player at Grace Road in 2010 and 2011, will remain at Leicestershire CCC until at least the end of the 2017 campaign.
The club has taken massive strides forward under McDonald’s leadership during the 2015 season with improved performances in the LV=CC combined with a terrific start to the NatWest T20 Blast tournament.
The Foxes currently sit in third place with ten points from nine games in a T20 campaign that has seen them land terrific away wins at Nottinghamshire Outlaws and Birmingham Bears as well as maintaining an unbeaten home record.
McDonald said: “It’s been great to be back at Leicestershire County Cricket Club in my new role and I’m really looking forward to continuing to shape the future of the club over the coming seasons. The support I’ve received from everybody has been fantastic.
“We have played some good cricket in the LV=County Championship and with a bit more consistency and taking our chances in the field, we would have had some more wins. We have also started well in NatWest T20 Blast and are looking to keep our good form going in that competition.
“We know there is still plenty of work to do but the players and backroom staff are all giving everything they can and we will all continue to work extremely hard to ensure that the club has success.”
Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: “I am absolutely delighted that Andrew has signed a contract extension with us.
“We have made massive strides forward and it is so important to have continuity at the club as we build on the progress that we have made.
“Andrew has already had a massive impact on the players, who have responded extremely positively to his leadership style.
“There has been an improvement in performance on the field and Andrew has also changed the culture of the dressing room. We look forward to continuing to work with Andrew in the future.”
