Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s overseas star Clint McKay already feels at home after only a couple of days at Grace Road.
There is a big Australian influence at the club with Head Coach Andrew McDonald, Club Captain Mark Cosgrove and opening batsman Angus Robson, and McKay said they have made settling in easy.
He said: “The boys have been fantastic so far, I knew Andrew (McDonald) and Mark (Cosgrove) from back home and they have been great. They have introduced me to everybody.
“Having some familiar faces helps when you’re walking into a new changing room. There’s a different way from team to team and you have to get to know the lads. I can’t wait to spend the next few months here.”
McKay arrived in the UK on Sunday and had his first bowl on the square yesterday in an outdoor net practice. The seamer gave his teammates a good workout as part of preparation for the big LV=CC game against Northamptonshire at Grace Road this Sunday (11am start).
“The first bowl went well and it’s all been about gearing towards Sunday,” he said. “It was nice and relaxed for a start as I’d only just got off the plane and then we’ll build it up so I’m ready to hit the ground running against Northamptonshire.
“I can’t wait to get a full week of training done and then get out there on Sunday and have my first game with the team.”
