Leicestershire CCC held the first Members’ Forum of 2020 this evening with the club outlining a number of exciting plans for the season.
Chair Mehmooda Duke MBE DL and Chief Executive Karen Rothery opened the evening, where a number of key areas were discussed.
Cricket
Head Coach Paul Nixon and Head of Talent Pathway Alastair Maiden got the evening underway with the focus on the new cricket strategy.
Paul proceeded to discuss the first team playing squad with academy graduates Alex Evans and Nat Bowley being the latest players to sign professional contracts with the club. Other players to have signed new deals include Colin Ackermann, Callum Parkinson, Harry Swindells, Harry Dearden, Dieter Klein and Sam Evans.
The club then highlighted their intention to bring in an overseas player for white ball competitions and are working hard on recruitment.
Alastair Maiden discussed his views of the Leicestershire academy and pathway system having been in post since the beginning of the month.
Alastair went on to talk about the importance of developing young talent, which is a key part of the club’s new cricket strategy.
To round off this section, the club went on to discuss the 2020 kit following a new partnership with Surridge Sport Training samples were shown, while the three new shirt designs will be launched soon.
Finance
Board Director Steve Kind then gave an overview of the club’s finances and explained that LCCC has worked tirelessly to reduce its cost base whilst also producing a new commercial plan to drive more income into the Fischer County Ground.
Steve spoke about the importance of the loan from Leicester City Council, who are one of the club’s key stakeholders.
It was then outlined that the club had a number of ideas for long-term viability and sustainability that were put to the Members for consideration.
