Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce that left arm paceman Dieter Klein has agreed a new deal with the club.
The fast bowler has signed a new contract to extend his stay at the Fischer County Ground until at least the end of the 2019 season.
Klein has taken 62 wickets across all formats for Leicestershire CCC including a best return of six for 80 in the first-class arena.
The 29-year-old Klein has an impressive bowling record in professional cricket, averaging under 30 in first-class cricket and having an average of 26.05 and 19.80 in List A and T20 respectively.
Klein also has pedigree with the bat, as demonstrated by recording his highest first-class score of 94 in the final game of the 2018 season at Glamorgan CCC.
“It’s great to extend my contract at the club,” said Klein. “I feel that my game has really developed here, and I look forward to that continuing.
“I have enjoyed working with all of the coaches here at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and look forward to the team continuing to move forward.”
Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “We all know that Dieter [Klein] can bowl at high pace and swing the ball, and he has been in the First XI squad on many occasions.
“Dieter’s batting has come on tremendously, and he is a whole-hearted performer in everything that he does, both in games and practice.
“There’s been tremendous progress with the bowling unit under Matt Mason, and it is important to have a range of bowlers. Dieter offers us something different and we’re delighted that he has signed an extension with us.”
Klein’s new contract is the most recent piece of good news from the club. He follows in the footsteps of Pakistan star Muhammad Abbas, all-rounder Neil Dexter and batsman Harry Dearden in recently extending their stays at the Fischer County Ground.
Seamers Chris Wright and Will Davis and off-spinning all-rounder Arron Lilley have all signed ahead of the 2019 season.
