Nightingale and Green represent Midlands at Bunbury

Leicestershire Young Cricketers Jack Nightingale and Nick Green were in action for the Midlands Under 15s at the Bunbury Festival in Worcestershire last week.

The team played three 50-over games, starting against London and East U15s that they won by 32 runs on the D-L method at Malvern College on Monday.

Nightingale made an excellent 58 in an opening partnership of 161 with Ben Chapman-Lilley, who scored exactly 100 as the Midlands put 250-6 on the board.

London and East U15s were only able to bat for 26.3 overs because of rain and they were 82-3 when the game came to its conclusion.

In their second game of the tournament, also at Malvern College, Midlands U15s lost to South and West U15s by 36 runs.

Green took 1-32 from seven overs as South and West U15s scored 228-8 and Midlands U15s were dismissed for 192 with Nightingale scoring 9.

Nightingale opened the bowling and batting in the third match against the North U15s, taking 2-16 from six overs before scoring 20 in a 79-run loss.

Midlands U15s also played two T20 games last week and they won the first fixture against London and East U15s at New Road on Wednesday.

Midlands U15s batted first and made 132-5 off 20 overs and the London and East U15s were 62-5 when rain cut short their innings after ten overs. Green opened the attack and bowled two overs for Midlands U15s.

In their second T20 match on Friday at Malvern College, Nightingale scored 10 against the same opponents as Midlands U15s lost by 15 runs chasing 146 to win.

To cap off an excellent week, Nightingale won the PCA's Most Valuable Player award and everybody at Leicestershire CCC would like to congratulate him on that honour.
