Nixon joins Bangla Tigers for Abu Dhabi T10

Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon partners up with ex-Australian internationals Stuart Law and Shaun Tait as part of the coaching staff for Bangla Tigers in season five of the Abu Dhabi T10 league.

Serving as batting and fielding coach, Nixon will be working with top first-class players such as former South African captain and icon Faf Du Plessis, Australian international James Faulkner, and West Indies big-hitter Andre Fletcher.

In 2017, Leicestershire County Cricket Club announced the return of Nixon as head coach of the First XI, following his illustrious playing career with the Club. After four seasons rebuilding the Foxes, he looks ahead to his fifth season gunning for success.

Nixon’s past cricketing success has been prominent within a limited overs format, winning three T20 titles in his playing career, as well as enjoying two title winning campaigns in the Caribbean T20 Premier league as head coach during his stint with Jamaica Tallawahs.

Jamaica Tallawahs gave Nico the opportunity to work with elite players such as Chris Gayle, Kumar Sangakkara, and former Leicestershire CCC all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Ahead of what promises to be a pulsating tournament, Paul Nixon commented: "It is a privilege to be involved with the Bangla Tigers franchise in the exciting Abu Dhabi T10 competition.

“It is going to be a fantastic experience with dozens on international stars in each team.”

Nixon joins Foxes allrounder Roman Walker in jetting off to the Middle East for the tournament, as it was announced last week that the Welshman will be representing the Chennai Braves in their inaugural season in the competition.

The Foxes Head Coach said: “It was tremendous that Roman [Walker] has been picked up to play as well. This will provide a great platform for him to show his skills.

“The Running Foxes are growing and developing around the globe which makes for an exciting 2022 at the Uptonsteel County Ground.”

Everyone at Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to wish Paul the best of luck heading into the Abu Dhabi T10 competition.
