No play on day one against Essex

There was no play on the first day of the LV=CC game between Leicestershire and Essex at Grace Road.
An early lunch was taken at 12 noon and although umpires Steve Garratt and Graham Lloyd planned an inspection at 1pm, it started to rain heavily and persistently just before that time.
The groundstaff had got a lot of the surface water off the square but the ground was soon soaked again and the rain was then followed by thunder and lightning.
The two teams are hoping to get the game underway at 10.30am in the morning, weather permitting. There was no toss and team selection today, so that is due at 10am tomorrow.
