No play on day three

It was a frustrating third day at the Fischer County Ground as no play was possible in the Specsavers County Championship game between Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Heavy rain was forecast and arrived shortly after 9am and although umpires Paul Baldwin and Peter Hartley kept an eye on proceedings, no play was possible.

The game was at an advanced stage at the halfway mark with Leicestershire 313 runs ahead with four second innings wickets remaining, so there is still the prospect of an exciting final day’s play tomorrow.

* The Second XI also suffered with the weather today, with both T20 games against Durham being abandoned at Kibworth CC.
