When we last met:
The two teams last met in July 2021, with the Running Foxes inflicting the first defeat of the season on Nottinghamshire, who were runaway leaders of the North Group.
Captain Colin Ackermann won the toss and inserted the visitors, who made 173 all out with four balls of their 20 overs remaining, despite being 115-2 after 11.1 overs. Joe Clarke (57, 27b) and Ben Duckett (45, 27b) got Notts off to a flier but three wickets apiece from Ackermann and Naveen saw Leicestershire run through the middle and lower order to give us a reasonable target to chase.
Josh Inglis and Arron Lilley got us off to a great start with 42s apiece from 19 and 23 balls respectively, with a number of other players chipping in. It fell to Ben Mike and Naveen to see us home, with two fours from Naveen getting the job done.
Head to Head:
Naveen-ul-Haq vs Jake Ball:
After leading the national wicket-taking charts last season
with 26 wickets in 14 matches, Naveen is one short of the lead so far this
season with 14 wickets in 8 matches as well - clearly illustrating his
world-class wicket-taking prowess.
His 14 wickets have come at an average of 18, while his economy rate of 8.17 is exceptional considering he almost exclusively bowls two in each of the Powerplay and death overs.
Notts' Ball is three wickets behind on 11, and over recent years has something of a strike bowler dynamic with excellent balls per wicket figures albeit with often high economy rates.
This season, Ball's 11 wickets have cost just 15.18 apiece, and come every 8.72 balls - illustrating that strike bowler dynamic - but his overs have cost 10.43 per over on average, which is an economy rate that the England man would like to see decrease.
With both bowlers leading the wicket-taking charts for their respective counties, supporters should be looking forward to seeing a high-class display of international quality pace bowling from the duo.
