Muhammad Abbas returns to the Fischer County Ground this week as his touring Pakistan side take on Leicestershire CCC in a two-day tourist fixture sponsored by Regal Bakery.
Abbas impressed on his Leicestershire CCC Specsavers County Championship debut against Sussex CCC. The run-fest wasn’t an issue for Abbas who bowled with good control and looked a threat throughout the game.
Since then Abbas joined up with the Pakistan squad and sat out of the game against Kent CCC before taking four wickets in his side’s game against Northamptonshire CCC.
Prior to the test series against England, Pakistan played against Ireland in Malahide in a one-off test match.
Abbas was in superb form throughout Pakistan's victory, taking four wickets in the first innings and five in the second in returning superb match figures of 9 for 110.
Seam bowler Abbas isn’t the only exciting Pakistan player on show, captain and wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed played at the Fischer County Ground last season for Yorkshire in the T20 Blast.
Shadab Khan has burst onto the international scene, the 19-year-old leg-spinner was playing Under 19 cricket just a year ago but is now a shoo-in for all three formats for his nation.
Ahead of the fixture, Leicestershire CCC Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “It’s really exciting Pakistan are coming to play here and it represents a fantastic opportunity for some of our players.”
“It is useful to have another red ball game between the Royal London One-Day Cup competition, which is just getting started. Our players will face some high quality bowling and will bowl at top-class batsmen, which is never a bad thing.”
* Tickets for the fixture are £5 for adults and £1 for Under 16s and can be brought in advance. A Prayer Room will be made available on the day. Buy your tickets HERE
