Leicestershire CCC will have further representation at this summer’s The Hundred, with coaches Dips Patel and Alex Carrie both set to link up with Trent Rockets.
The two will join Foxes all-rounder Ben Mike at the East Midlands franchise, adding to the involvement of Callum Parkinson, Colin Ackermann and Rehan Ahmed elsewhere in the competition.
Carrie joined the Club ahead of the 2018 season as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Leicestershire Young Cricketers, before making the move to the First XI as Head of Strength and Conditioning in 2020.
Speaking about joining the Rockets, Carrie said: “I’m really looking forward to working with some great coaches, players and backroom staff.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to learn new things, as well as offer the knowledge I’ve gained during my time at Leicestershire.â€
Patel has a long-standing history with the Foxes, spanning upwards of 30 years. He spent six years in the Leicestershire Young Cricketers programme, before progressing through to the Club’s Second XI, making a handful of List A appearances.
Following his playing career, Patel, who possesses an ECB Level Four Master Coach qualification, has held a multitude of age-group coaching roles at Grace Road, with his current role now standing as Second XI Coach.
Discussing his role with the franchise, Patel said: “I feel very privileged to be involved and have the chance to learn more about franchise cricket while challenging myself in a different environment.
“I’d also like to thank Leicestershire for letting me pursue this opportunity.â€
LCCC Director of Cricket, Claude Henderson, paid tribute to the duo’s efforts, stating: “It’s fantastic to see Alex and Dips’ hard work being recognised, and is a real testament to the strength of our coaching department.
“While we will miss them at Leicestershire during the competition, we appreciate it is a great opportunity for them to further their knowledge to bring back to the Club.â€
Trent Rockets kick off their campaign by hosting Birmingham Phoenix at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
