Patel substituted in as concussion replacement

Rishi Patel has come in as a concussion replacement for the Running Foxes on the second day of the LV=County Championship fixture at the Uptonsteel County Ground against Somerset CCC.

Colin Ackermann took a blow at first slip from a Callum Parkinson delivery during the 27th over of the day, and Leicestershire CCC went through the concussion protocols.

ECB regulations outline that a like-for-like replacement can both bat and bowl in the game once approved by the Match Referee. With Ackermann ruled out, the request for Patel to come in as a concussion replacement was approved by Match Referee James Whitaker.

Patel, who was in Leicestershire CCC’s 13-man squad for the game, has therefore taken Ackermann’s place for the rest of the game. Ackermann will now return home to rest and continue to be monitored by Leicestershire CCC’s medical team.
