Permutations ahead of final group stage RLC fixture

Following the Running Foxes' victory over Somerset on Tuesday, August 10, and taking other results from Group B into consideration, Leicestershire Foxes face Northamptonshire Steelbacks today with a view to booking a place in the quarter final knockout stage.

As it currently stands, Leicestershire can finish today with a home quarter final tie to look forward, an away quarter final tie to look forward to, or without a quarter final tie to look forward to.

It is mathematically impossible for Leicestershire to top the group and head straight through to the semi final as Glamorgan currently sit atop Group B on 10 points, three points ahead of the Foxes.

The Running Foxes can still get a home tie on Saturday, following a second placed finish in Group B if:

  • Foxes beat Northamptonshire Steelbacks
  • Glamorgan beat Yorkshire Vikings
  • Warwickshire beat Somerset
  • Derbyshire Falcons beat Surrey

There is also the possibility of securing an away tie on Saturday, following a third placed finish in Group B if:

  • Foxes beat Northamptonshire Steelbacks
  • Only one of Surrey, Yorkshire Vikings or Somerset win

If two of Surrey, Yorkshire Vikings or Somerset win then it is mathematically impossible for the Foxes to advance.
