Redfern shines in Barrow triumph

Leicestershire batsman Dan Redfern had a terrific day as Barrow Town recorded another fine win in the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket league, sponsored by Everards.
Redfern scored a fine 105 off 101 balls batting at number three and then took 2-11 off 5.1 overs as Barrow beat Market Harborough by 110 runs.
Barrow are hot on the heels of Kibworth, who had an eight wicket win against Hinckley Town/CCA as Matt Craven (105), Sunny Patel (78) and Aadil Ali (24*) were in free-scoring form.
Ali earlier took 1-37 off ten overs of economical off-spin as Kibworth maintained their 100 per cent record. The top two meet this weekend in what should be a terrific contest.
Sileby scored 200 in their game against Syston, for whom Alex Wyatt (6-0-25-1) and George Corbett (8-1-41-0) bowled. Syston made 118 in reply, with Wyatt second top-scoring with 25.
Dips Patel (69) and Rob McKinley (83) took Loughborough Town from 111-6 to 271 and they claimed a winning draw against Kegworth. McKinley also shone with the ball in claiming 4-37.
Thorpe Arnold had a terrific one-wicket win against Leicester Ivanhoe to get off the mark for the season. The in-form Matt Twigg (62) and Leicestershire Academy player Harry Swindells (36) played well for Ivanhoe but Jake Gillett took 4-8 and Luke Clark and Mark Starkey claimed three wickets apiece as the away side were dismissed for 169.
Niall Lafferty took 4-30 for Ivanhoe but opener Dom Exton made an important 50 as Thorpe, who were 162-6 at one stage, edged to a thrilling victory.
Ollie Pickering made a superb 92 as Lutterworth had a convincing victory against Rothley Park. Lutterworth scored 244-6 before Rothley were dismissed for 168. Alec Hill, brother of Leicestershire batsman Lewis, took 2-12.
