RLODC North Group - Final Day scenarios

North Group table:

The Royal London One-Day Cup North Group table is available HERE

Qualification criteria:

The two (North & South) group winners will immediately qualify for a home draw in semi-finals. The team finishing second in each group will receive a home draw in the quarter-finals and play against the team finishing third in the opposite group. The quarter-final winners will play away in the semi-finals. Semi-final ties will be determined by a free draw.

Tie-break:

The tie-breakers for teams finishing on equal points will be:

a Most wins in Group matches.
b If still equal, the team with the higher net run rate (see below) in the Group Matches will be placed in the higher position.
c If still equal, the teams will be ordered according to which team achieved the most points in the matches played between them.
d In the event that teams cannot be separated by (a) to (c) above, this will be done by drawing lots.

North Group scenarios:

Winners (through to home semi-final):

- Worcestershire will top the group if they win at Derbyshire or, if they fail to win, if Yorkshire do not pick up a point against Leicestershire.

- Yorkshire will top the group if Worcestershire fail to win at Derbyshire and they beat Leicestershire.

Second place (through to home quarter-final):

- Given points, amount of wins and Yorkshire's net run rate, Worcestershire or Yorkshire are virtually guaranteed the top two positions. The only way Notts can finish second is if they win, Yorkshire lose, and there are heavy victory margins.

Final qualification place (through to away quarter-final):

- Four teams are still in with a chance: Notts, Durham, Leicestershire & Lancashire.

- Notts will finish in third place if they win at Northants.

- If Notts fail to win at Northants, Durham will finish third if they beat Lancashire (Durham will then have 5 wins, an amount Leicestershire cannot reach regardless of tomorrow's results, and an amount Notts can't reach if they fail to win at Northants)

- If Notts and Durham fail to win, and Leicestershire win at Yorkshire, Leicestershire will finish third (If Notts have a tie/no result, Leicestershire and Notts would have an equal amount of wins but Leicestershire have a superior net run rate, a position that will only be strengthened if Leicestershire win and Notts do not)

- Lancashire can still finish in third place. If Notts and Leicestershire lose, Lancashire will finish third if they beat Durham given their net run rate is better than Notts.

A note on net run rate:

A team’s net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team, the average runs per over scored against that team.

In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of the net run rate of both teams shall be based on the full quota of overs to which the batting team would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.

Only those matches where results are achieved will count for the purpose of net run rate calculations.

Where a match is abandoned, but a result is achieved under Duckworth-Lewis-Stern, for net run rate purposes Team 1 will be accredited with Team 2’s Par Score on abandonment off the same number of overs faced by Team 2. Where a match is concluded but with Duckworth-Lewis-Stern having been applied at an earlier point in the match, Team 1 will be accredited with 1 run less than the final Target Score for Team 2 off the total number of overs allocated to Team 2 to reach the target.
