RLODC trophy at Grace Road this Sunday

The Royal London One-Day Cup trophy will soon be stopping off in Leicester as part of a nationwide tour to celebrate the start of the summer’s domestic one-day competition.

The trophy will be visiting all 18 county cricket grounds in England and Wales before finishing at the home of cricket, Lord’s, on August 12th.

It will be at Grace Road for our first match against Surrey this Sunday and supporters will be able to have their photograph taken alongside it.

The 50-over competition sees all 18 sides battle it out for the chance to contest the final at Lord’s on September 19th and the tour will allow both players and fans to see the silverware on offer to the winners.

Durham are the current holders of the Royal London One-Day Cup after they narrowly overcame Warwickshire by three wickets in a closely contested final last September, and they visit Grace Road on Thursday, August 6.

Club Captain Mark Cosgrove said: “We are really looking forward to the launch of the Royal London One-Day Cup as a club and it’s fantastic that the trophy will be at Grace Road on Sunday afternoon.”

And with the ICC Champions Trophy and the next cricket World Cup earmarked for England in 2017 and 2019 respectively, the competition will once again provide the ideal platform for  those players seeking to hone their skills in the 50 Over format and impress the England selectors.

Tickets for our Community Day on Sunday, sponsored by the Meesha Group, are available for just £10 in advance for adults while under 16s go free.

This offer is also available for all RLODC games this summer by calling our Ticket Office on 0116 245 2401 or through our online portal HERE
