The Running Foxes reach out to support County community project, Moneywise Plus, following a hard-hitting pandemic.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club has committed its help to county-wide charity project, Moneywise Plus, by donating a range of surplus IT equipment.
The charity, which was heavily affected by the pandemic, has received a number of items from the Club, including laptops, desktops, monitors and printers.
Moneywise Plus is a project led by Reaching People, which aims to improve the ongoing digital and financial competence of people living within Leicester and Leicestershire, supporting them to move towards employment, job search, education or training.
Many of their clients have either little or no access to a device or to the internet, an issue that became even more difficult to bridge with the restrictions posed by COVID-19, as the sessions could not take place in their clients’ homes or in public facilities.
After hearing about the damaging impact that the pandemic had on their work, the Club offered its assistance by supplying the project with the technology in the highest demand.
Amina Lunat, Project Coordinator at Reaching People Leicester, said: “We are so grateful for Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s generosity, as every donation helps.
“The donations the Club have given means we can better help our clients to become independent when they leave the project. Without those donations, it wouldn’t be possible.â€
Moneywise are partnered with the libraries service in Leicestershire to run roadshow advice sessions across the city and county, where the charity uses the refurbished devices to improve the digital and financial self-sufficiency of their clients.
Sandra Clark, Stadium Manager at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, said: “We are proud to support Moneywise Plus with the donations of our surplus Club technology.
“The project provides crucial guidance in developing the digital skills of people within Leicestershire who need a helping hand. We hope our equipment can further facilitate that work.â€
