Leicestershire County Cricket Club are excited to announce the signing of talented batsman Louis Kimber.
Kimber has appeared at the Uptonsteel County Ground as recently as March 2021 as he captained Loughborough University in the Running Foxes’ curtain raiser to the 2021 season.
Further, he has featured with the Running Fox on his chest even more recently, as he has played for Leicestershire CCC Second XI on multiple occasions so far this campaign.
Currently in his second year of studying for his Master’s in Marketing at Loughborough University, Kimber follows a whole host of current LCCC playing staff in signing his first professional contract in cricket whilst studying.
In keeping with the Academy of Cricket strategy at Leicestershire CCC, Kimber follows in the footsteps of current opening batsmen Hassan Azad and Sam Evans, as well as Academy graduates Alex Evans and Nat Bowley, and batsman Nick Welch.
The 24-year-old has made two first-class appearances, both for Loughborough UCCE against Kent CCC and Leicestershire CCC respectively.
His stats stand at 99 runs at an average of 33, with a best of 62 from the three innings he has featured in. However, his recent stats with the bat are what caught the eye of the coaching staff at the Uptonsteel County Ground.
Kimber has begun the 2021 season in a rich vein of form, posting 178 and 54 in two innings’ in the LCCC 2nd XI’s victory over Nottinghamshire 2nd XI.
These scores were followed up by two further useful stints at the crease in the 2nd XI victory against Derbyshire 2nd XI, of 67 and 31.
Upon signing for the Club, Kimber said: “It was a very proud moment for me and my family. It has always been something I've wanted to do from a young age so to finally get the opportunity is very pleasing and hopefully I can repay the faith that the Club has shown in me."
