Scriven becomes first new recruit for 2022

Leicestershire CCC is delighted to announce the signing of exciting all-rounder Tom Scriven.

The 22-year-old all-rounder from Hampshire CCC, Scriven joins Leicestershire with nine professional appearances under his belt having debuted in all three formats over the last three years.

With two first-class appearances to his name, Scriven made a name for himself on debut in the Bob Willis Trophy against Surrey CCC after claiming the early wicket of Jamie Smith.

Scriven’s second and most recent first-class appearance came in that same season, away at Kent CCC in a fixture which saw him claim 2-24 with the ball, as well as top-scoring for Hampshire with the bat with 68.

From 2019 onwards, the majority of his red-ball cricket has come in the Second XI in which he has recorded 860 runs at an average of 78.18, including a top score of 117 and three centuries.

In that same time period, Scriven claimed 22 wickets at an average of 26.96, with an impressive tight economy rate of 2.79.

His multi-format capability has also been highlighted following his 240 runs scored at a strike rate of 155.84 in the 2021 Second XI T20 campaign.

Upon joining the Running Foxes, Scriven said: “I am incredibly excited to be joining the Running Foxes and making the Uptonsteel County Ground my home.

“From the moment I met with Paul [Nixon] and Tom [Smith] towards the end of last season, it was an easy decision to make.

“I believe they are building something very exciting, and I am keen to be part of that.”

Head Coach Paul Nixon was delighted to add Scriven to the ranks in Leicestershire. He said: “Tom [Scriven] is an outstanding young allrounder who has the mindset and discipline to play well across all formats.

“He will be a welcome addition to our squad at the Uptonsteel County Ground and will make the competition for places even tougher.”
