The weather continued to frustrate as the second day of the LV=CC match between Leicestershire and Essex followed the pattern of the first, being abandoned without a ball bowled.
Rain had fallen overnight and during the morning and umpires Steve Garratt and Graham Lloyd decided that an early lunch would be taken at 12 noon.
The umpires monitored the situation with a view of getting the game underway after the luncheon interval, and decided that play would start at 1pm providing there was no further precipitation.
The toss was scheduled before the players sat down for lunch and Essex captain James Foster invited Leicestershire to bat first.
Leicestershire showed one change to the Gloucestershire draw as Charlie Shreck came in for Clint McKay while Essex also made one adjustment as Graham Napier replaced Tom Moore.
Everything looked good to go but another heavy downpour arrived during the lunch interval and that ultimately left parts of the outfield in an unplayable condition. Play was abandoned at 3.30pm.
The teams will try again at 10.30am in the morning but again that will again be weather permitting.
* Members are reminded that a meeting will take place at 6.15pm in the Charles Palmer Suite this evening with Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE, Chairman Paul Haywood and Head Coach Andrew McDonald.
