Seconds ready for Taunton test

Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Second XI are preparing for a big game tomorrow, the Second XI Trophy semi-final against Somerset.

The team clinched second place in the last four following an abandonment at Lancashire last Thursday.

Leicestershire were unbeaten in the group stages, winning three matches and taking a point from three other games that were either abandoned or washed out completely.

The last completed fixture saw an excellent victory at Warwickshire with strong performances from Sam Evans, Ollie Freckingham, Tom Wells and James Sykes.

The outcome is that County will travel to the South Division table-toppers for a game at The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton that will start at 10.30am on Friday.

North Division winners Lancashire will take on Kent in the other fixture at Beckenham CC tomorrow. Venues for the knockout games are based on logistics and ground availability, and with Lancashire currently playing a four-day friendly against Middlesex at Radlett CC, it has worked out well for both counties.

Everybody at Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to wish the Second XI all of the best for the game. Our scorer Pete Johnson will provide updates and a match report to inform you about the day's events.
