Leicestershire came off second best in both T20 matches against Durham played at Brandon today, meaning they have won one of the four matches played in the competition to date.
Game 1 was 60 minutes late getting underway due to early morning rain in the Durham area. Gordon Muchall won the toss for Durham and asked Leicestershire to bat first.
County were dismissed for 124 from 19.4 overs with trialists Peter Drysdale (31) and Basit Zaman (22) the only batsman to pose a problem, albeit a brief one, to the Durham attack. Pick of the Durham attack was Adam Hickey who picked up 4-12 from 2.4 overs.
Durham chased down the total in 14.4 overs with skipper Dan Redfern changing the bowling regularly. Redfern caught the eye with 2-17 from his four overs. Hickey (34 from 20 balls) was again a thorn in Leicestershire’s side. Ryan Pringle finished up with an unbeaten 30 as Durham won by six wickets.
In game 2 Durham again won the toss and again inserted County. Matt Pardoe weighed in with an aggressive 70, exactly half of the innings total, after being promoted to open the batting from number four.
Pardoe posted his 50 (3x4,4x6) from just 32 balls after 13.2 overs with the score on 78-3. The only other County batsman in double figures was Zaman with 26 from nine balls.
County closed on 140-6 from their 20 overs and Durham openers Jack Clark and Adam Hickey made light work of the total. Hickey raced to his 50 (5x4,3x6) from 22 balls after 7.1 overs.
The pair added 112 for the first wicket before Hickey (64) from 28 balls was caught at deep mid-wicket by Drysdale off James Sykes. Clark cruised to his 50 (5x4,2x6) from 32 balls with the score on 132-1 after 11.2 overs. Durham coasted to victory totalling 142-1 after 13 overs, therefore winning by nine wickets.
