Thu 26 Aug 2021

Very light, localised rain had again been evident in the immediate area surrounding Kibworth when we arrived for the third day of the SEF between Leicestershire and Yorkshire. All signs were good however for a prompt 11.00am start.
Leicestershire resumed from their overnight 71-4, leading by 208 runs. Hassan Azad 33*, Scott Steel 22*.
In the third over of the morning Azad and Steel brought up their 50 partnership (85 balls) when Azad drove seamer Dominic Leech to the cover boundary. The score on 85 for 4 from 33.1 overs.
In the next over, without further addition to the total, Azad (42) 102b was caught low down at third slip by James Mukherjee off the bowling of Matt Pillans. Leicestershire 85 for 5 from 34.3 overs.
Max Law joined Steel, and the ‘Lawman’ again proved a good ally to Steel at the crease.
Steel went to his 50 (6x4) 73b when he clipped Mukherjee to the ropes, just in front of square. A second half century of the match for the ‘Bearded Wonder’.
Steel always obliges by giving the ball a good clout if it merits such attention. Law was now also in a dominant frame, and took boundaries off of all of the four Yorkshire bowlers used this morning, Pillans, Leech Mukherjee, and Vagadia.
Steel and Law brought up their 50 partnership from 60 balls, with the score on 137 for 5 from 44.3 overs. The third 50 partnership of the match involving Law.
The match came to a close after 15.5 overs play this morning with Steel 60 not out, and Law 25 not out. Leicestershire on 147 for 5, from 46.5 overs leading by 284 runs.
Sincere thanks, on behalf of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, to all the Match Day Staff at Kibworth Cricket Club for all your hard work over the past three days. Chrissy, Tom and Ian provided service second to none in the food department, and Steve and his trusted band of ground staff again did everything possible.
