SET20 v Yorkshire CCC 2nd XI Match Report

On a hot summers morning Leicestershire played host to Yorkshire at Kibworth Cricket Club for the fourth match of their SET20 campaign, the game commencing at 11.00am.

After having suffered defeats in their first 3 SET20 games this season, Leicestershire secured a thoroughly comprehensive victory, winning by 76 runs.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore won the toss for Yorkshire, and inserted Leicestershire. County posted 156-9 from their allotted 20 overs. Debutant Josh Inglis making a terrific impact. Inglis racked up 93, his half century coming from 34 balls (5x4/2x6). Inglis going through his full repertoire of ‘one day’ shots along the way. On initial impressions it looks like Paul Nixon, and his scouting team, may have pulled a rather forceful ‘rabbit out of the hat’ in signing the UK born Aussie.

Inglis was supported along the way primarily by Rishi Patel (20) 21b, the pair adding 74 runs for the 4th wicket, their 50 alliance coming up from 38 balls. Inglis was dismissed from the first ball of the final over, when he edged seamer Matt Pillans to wicket keeper Ben Birkhead. Pillans was the pick of the White Rose bowlers returning figures of 3-29 from his 4 overs.

In their reply Yorkshire were never at the races, being dismissed for just 80 runs from 14.4 overs, the last 6 wickets going down for just 16 runs. Skipper Colin Ackermann shuffling his bowlers regularly, the first 8 overs being delivered by 7 different bowlers. Will Davis weighing in with 4-16 from 3 overs, and Ackermann chipping in with 2-14 from 2.4. Gavin Griffiths, Arron Lilley, and Ben Mike also picking up a wicket each. The game done, and dusted at 1.34pm.

Once again sincere thanks to all the Match Day staff at Kibworth Cricket club for much valued effort, commitment, and hard work on the day.
