Special century for Boyce

Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to congratulate Matthew Boyce, who is making his 100th first-class appearance for the club today.

Boyce has been with Leicestershire for his entire career. The 29-year-old came through the Leicestershire Young Cricketers and Academy system and made his first team debut against Pakistan in 2006.

The batsman was educated at Oakham School along with England seamer Stuart Broad, who he has played a lot of cricket with over the years.

Boyce has amassed 4,629 first-class runs for the club with a best of 135. After being named in the starting XI at Essex today, Boyce was presented with a special cap and tie by Head Coach Andrew McDonald and Senior Coach Ben Smith, himself a member of the 100 Club.

The County Ground at Chelmsford has held happy memories for Boyce over the years. During the LV=CC game at the ground in 2012, Boyce passed 5,000 runs in all competitions for the club.

Now Boyce is passing another milestone at the venue and he will be looking to mark the magical moment with a win.

Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Chief Executive Wasim Khan MBE said: "Everybody at Leicestershire County Cricket Club would like to congratulate Matthew on this special moment.

"To spend your career with one county is a great achievement and I would like to wish him and the team all the best for the next four days at Chelmsford."
