Star-Studded India head to the Uptonsteel County Ground

Virat Kohli and a star-studded number three ranked Test team in the world are officially heading to the Uptonsteel County Ground this summer.

A glittering India side - that includes two top-ten Test allrounders, two top-ten Test batters and two top-ten Test bowlers - will face Leicestershire County Cricket Club in a four-day tour fixture, starting Friday, June 24, 2022, ahead of their rearranged fifth test against England, which takes place at Edgbaston and begins on Friday, July 1, 2022.

The fixture comes as the centre-piece to the most exciting summer of cricket to hit Leicestershire in recent years, with Paul Nixon’s developing Running Foxes having their sights firmly set on silverware in all three competitions.

Leicestershire County Cricket Club CEO Sean Jarvis spoke on the visit of India: “To have the visit of India to look forward to as we near the 2022 campaign is unbelievably exciting for us as a Club, and for our most dedicated Members.

“To have lost the fixture due to COVID during the 2020 campaign was devastating, and we are grateful to have been assigned the fixture once again.

“It is not everyday that the one of the world’s best Test teams visit your back garden.

“It will be an entertaining four days in Leicestershire - the biggest four days of the summer - and we encourage everyone to come down to the Uptonsteel County Ground. This is one cricket match you do not want to miss.”

Members of Leicestershire County Cricket Club for the 2022 season will have their own exclusive pre-sale, one week before access to the priority window opens for those who have signed up for access to priority tickets.

The Register Your Interest window for access to priority tickets is now open and fans who sign up will receive early access to tickets and further information regarding this fixture.

Those who registered their interest for the India v India A fixture which was scheduled for 2021 will automatically be given access to the priority window.

All 2022 Members of Leicestershire CCC will automatically have first priority access to tickets.

The club anticipate there will be an extremely high demand for tickets and actively encourage supporters to register their interest at the earliest possible opportunity.
